Emerging Adults

You’re somewhere in between…

You’re not a teenager anymore… but you DEFINITELY don’t feel like an adult.

Emerging adulthood (~18-28) is a unique time in your life. The challenges can be exciting, but they are also overwhelming and scary!

And while you desire the freedoms of adulthood, the responsibility that comes with it is daunting, and you feel completely unprepared.

Actually, this “adulting” thing seems completely terrifying (and a little lonely).

Never before have you had to make such important decisions with such long-term impacts, and you’re terrified you’ll make the wrong choice.

Not only that, you also have to figure out the “little things” (not so little) of budgeting, cooking, cleaning, doctors’ appointments, taxes, health insurance, etc., etc.

And it feels like you’re supposed to do this on your own – without the supports that you’re used to. Part of you is craving the comfort of being a kid and having your parents help you with all of this stuff.

Time is ticking… but you still feel so unsure…

About everything!

What do I want to DO?

What do I want to BE?

What if I make the wrong choice?

What if I pick the wrong major or career?

Who am I supposed to live with?

Is it okay to live with my parents after college?

Paying taxes??? WHAT?!

“Okay, boomer…”

Older people (especially your parents) love to give people your age “advice.” Of course, it’s based on what worked for them:

Go for a job with benefits.

Or…

Don’t worry about the money – go for your passion!

Or…

Live with your parents to save money.

Or…

Live on your own for true independence!

The trouble with all of this advice is that it gives you contradictory messages – making you feel even more confused and overwhelmed. And it doesn’t take into account the changing times that only you and your generation truly understand.

Plus, it makes it feel like there is only one right answer, and if you don’t figure out what that is, and quickly, you’re doomed forever…

We’re going to find YOU in all this…

It might feel both frustrating and freeing to hear that there is no right answer. That this is a time for trying out different things: experimenting, discovering what works, and figuring out who this “you” even is.

And I am here to help with this process. I won’t give you unsolicited advice, and I won’t judge your decisions.

I will be here every step of the way to provide support and reassurance, helping you sift through everything that life throws your way.

Together, we will help you uncover the best version of yourself as you learn, experience, and grow.

You can do hard things…

Transition is hard for everyone, and the transition from “kid” to adult is definitely up there on the difficulty scale.

There is a lot to figure out, but you don’t have to do it alone.
